Milestone timeline
- May 2025
- Decree 366/2025 signed. Amended Argentina's Citizenship Law to permit naturalization through "relevant investment," waiving the standard two-year residency requirement.
- July 31, 2025
- Decree 524/2025 published. Formalized the program's operational structure and established APCI within the Ministry of Economy.
- April 2026
- Resolution 522/2026 cancelled the international tender to appoint the program's operator. It did not cancel the program, the decrees, or the investment pathway. Procedures and due diligence protocols were still undefined after the April 2026 tender cancellation.
- June 2026
- Two federal appellate courts, including the National Electoral Chamber, declared DNU 366/2025 invalid on constitutional grounds. Neither ruling arose from an investor case, but the reasoning reaches this decree.
- Supreme Court
- The government has appealed. The outcome is pending.
Current legal status
The decrees that describe the pathway are still on the books. The June 2026 rulings and the pending Supreme Court appeal are the unresolved legal question. No launch date can be confirmed while this is unresolved. The full legal narrative, tender record, and source notes are on the Argentina citizenship by investment launch date article. This page does not repeat that account.
What this means for prospective investors
There is no filing portal and no confirmed investment amount. Two paths are currently anticipated, subject to final regulation: a non-refundable $500,000 USD Treasury contribution, or a $1,000,000 USD 7-year government bond. Real estate, business or startup ventures, and investment funds are not anticipated qualifying paths. Neither path has been officially confirmed.
Work that can be done now is record-keeping and counsel, not an APCI submission. Do not treat this snapshot as an application checklist.
Sources and methodology
This page reflects only decrees, resolutions, and court rulings, updated when a development is confirmed. Future updates require a manual edit of this file and of its last-updated date. It does not estimate outcomes or project a filing window.
