Argentina Citizenship by Investment vs Turkey Citizenship
Operating Property Citizenship
Program Status: Applications are not open in Argentina. Turkey's citizenship-by-investment program is currently processing files, typically through real estate. Argentina's investment citizenship route under Decree 524/2025 is not accepting applications.
Argentina citizenship by investment vs Turkey citizenship is not a comparison of two open filing windows as of August 2026. Turkey runs an operating exceptional-citizenship program: a qualifying investment, most often a Turkish real-estate purchase, can lead to Turkish nationality rather than a renewable foreigner's residence card. Argentina's pathway, as this site describes it, is also nationality through a relevant investment, under Decree 524/2025, administered by the Agencia de Programas de Ciudadanía por Inversión (APCI). That Argentine file cannot be lodged while operational protocols remain unpublished.
The comparison is therefore two citizenship-by-investment structures, not a citizenship track versus a golden-visa residence permit. Greece and Portugal issue residency-track golden visas. Their product is a residence card. Naturalization, if it happens at all, sits on a separate nationality-law clock. Turkey's investment statute is the other kind of file: direct citizenship. For the Greek residence-permit comparison, see Argentina citizenship by investment vs Greece Golden Visa. For Argentine program structure independent of Turkey, see the Argentina Golden Visa Program guide. Official government links are on Argentina residency resources.

Direct Citizenship through Investment, Not a Residence Card
Turkish citizenship by investment is exceptional naturalization under Turkish citizenship law. The applicant does not collect years on a residence permit and then apply for a passport. If the investment is accepted and security review clears, the grant is nationality. Dual citizenship is permitted on the Turkish side.
That is the structural point versus residency-track European golden visas, and it is also the point of contact with Argentina. Decree 524/2025 and Decree 366/2025 describe Argentine citizenship through investment, without a prior two-year ordinary residence period. See residency requirements. Both programs, on paper, aim at nationality. Only one of them is taking files.
What Turkey is not: a permit you renew by keeping a house and visiting rarely. The Turkish real-estate route uses a title (or an eligible promise-to-sell arrangement) with a registered hold. The outcome sought is a Turkish identity card and passport, not a five-year residence sticker. Argentina, once APCI is processing, is likewise not described on this site as a renewable foreigner's card. The unpublished Argentine object is nationality. The live difference is operational status, not the legal category.
Turkey's Real Estate Route
| Criterion | Argentina | Turkey |
|---|---|---|
| Legal structure | Naturalization via Treasury contribution or bond | Direct citizenship via real estate purchase (or deposit, bonds, business capital, job creation) |
| Program status | Not open | Operating — currently processing |
| Investment floor | $500,000 contribution or $1,000,000 bond | $400,000 real estate (since 2022 increase); other routes commonly cited around $500,000 |
| Hold period | Bond 7 years / contribution non-refundable | 3-year resale restriction on property |
| Family inclusion | Spouse and children under 18 anticipated includable (18+ status unknown) | Not stated on page (dual citizenship permitted on the Turkish side) |
| Processing time | Not yet officially confirmed | Realistically under a year for a complete file |
| Physical presence | None anticipated | Continuous residence not required, though in-person biometrics/title steps occur inside Turkey |
| Mobility / passport | 170+ countries incl. Schengen | No published visa-free count; Turkish citizens generally require a Schengen visa for short stays |
The default Turkish path is property. Published accounts of the current rules, in force since the 2022 increase, put the real-estate floor at USD 400,000 (or equivalent foreign currency). That figure replaced a prior USD 250,000 threshold. The title commonly carries a three-year annotation that the property will not be sold or transferred. Licensed valuation and payment through the Turkish banking system (foreign-exchange conversion documented at a Turkish bank) are part of how the investment is evidenced. Confirm the current regulation with Turkish counsel before treating any brochure number as the filing rule.
Other qualifying routes exist and are commonly cited at a higher USD 500,000 floor: bank deposit, government bonds, or business capital, with a separate employment-creation option. Those are not the path most applicants use. Real estate is.
Argentina is anticipated as a $500,000 USD Treasury contribution or a $1,000,000 USD 7-year government bond, subject to final regulation. Real estate is not an anticipated Argentine path. See investment requirements. A Turkish tapu at USD 400,000 with a three-year hold is not an Argentine Treasury contribution or government bond. An Argentine contribution or bond, when one can be made, does not complete a Turkish citizenship file.
Headline proximity between USD 400,000 and $500,000 is not legal equivalence. One number is a live Turkish property minimum. The other is this site's anticipated Argentine Treasury-contribution path for a program that is not accepting applications.
A Months-Long Live Calendar versus a Clock That Is Not Running
Turkey is comparatively fast among citizenship-by-investment programs because the file can be started now and is aimed at nationality rather than a multi-year residence-then-naturalization sequence. End-to-end time is still measured in months. Published practitioner ranges vary with title work, valuation, conformity certificates, and security review. Treat "a few months" as marketing shorthand. Treat "under a year in a complete file" as the realistic band. Do not treat any single brochure number as a statutory deadline.
Continuous physical residence in Turkey is not, on published accounts of this track, a condition of the grant. Language proficiency is not required for the investment route. Filing still involves steps inside Turkey (title, and typically in-person biometrics). That is presence for a procedure, not a stay quota.
Argentina's processing time is not yet officially confirmed. See application process timeline. No decision window runs until APCI is processing files. The launch-date research note records that, after the April 2026 tender cancellation, application procedures and due diligence protocols had still not been defined. A Turkish file that finishes in some number of months is a live calendar. Argentina has no published processing clock.
How an Argentine file would be screened, once one exists, is on the due diligence process guide. Turkish due diligence is a live investment-and-security review run by Turkish authorities today. Completing it does not create an Argentine file.
A Turkish passport is a currently issuable travel document. This page does not publish a visa-free destination count for it; those lists move. One mobility fact that can be stated without inventing a total: Turkish citizens generally require a visa for short stays in the Schengen Area. An Argentine passport, if and when issued through the investment route, is described on this site as visa-free or visa-on-arrival to over 170 countries, including the Schengen Area. See visa-free travel. That Argentine document is not available through APCI today.
Program Status: An Open Turkish Counter and an Unpublished Argentine File
Turkey is processing citizenship-by-investment applications. Property can be identified, valued, and purchased under the current real-estate floor, and used to support an exceptional-citizenship file. The result, if granted, is Turkish nationality.
Argentina is not processing citizenship-by-investment applications. Decree 524/2025 is the legal shell. APCI has not published operational due diligence protocols or a filing portal. A Turkish passport does not become Argentine nationality. An Argentine qualifying investment, when one can be made, does not complete a Turkish citizenship file. Capital sitting in a Turkish title with a three-year annotation is not an APCI-certified relevant investment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Turkey citizenship by investment grant a passport, or only a residence permit?
- Turkey's investment route is aimed at nationality, not a multi-year residence card that later converts. The default path is real estate at a published floor of USD 400,000 since the 2022 increase, commonly with a three-year resale restriction. Confirm the current regulation with Turkish counsel.
Is Turkish property an anticipated Argentina citizenship by investment path?
- No. Real estate is not an anticipated Argentine path. Argentina is anticipated as a $500,000 USD Treasury contribution or a $1,000,000 USD 7-year government bond, subject to final regulation. A Turkish title at USD 400,000 is not an Argentine Treasury contribution or government bond. See investment requirements.
Can I file Turkey citizenship by investment now if Argentina is not open?
- Turkey is processing files. Argentina is not currently accepting applications. A finished Turkish file does not create an Argentine file. Headline proximity between USD 400,000 and $500,000 is not legal equivalence.
Does Turkey citizenship by investment require living in Turkey?
- Published accounts of this track do not treat continuous physical residence as a condition of the grant. Language proficiency is not required for the investment route. Filing still involves steps inside Turkey, including title work and typically in-person biometrics. That is presence for a procedure, not a stay quota.
How long does Turkey citizenship by investment take compared with Argentina?
- Turkey can be started now. Treat under a year for a complete file as a realistic band, not a statutory deadline. Argentina's processing time is not yet officially confirmed because APCI is not processing files. See application process timeline.
